Work Packages

WP1 – Project Management

WP1 contains all organizational and administration activities entailed by the project. Its main goal is to ensure that the project unfolds based on the timeline and that the cooperation of local and international partners is smooth. This work package also implements the necessary activities for scientific and financial control and makes provisions for resolving the possible technical, management and budgetary risks that might arise during the project’s deployment.

WP2 – Network Initiation and Integration Activities

WP2 will initiate the project and incorporate activities that aim to build synergies around joint activities of the consortium.
The main objectives of this WP are:
1. Discuss work related to different disciplines involved in the project with the goal of exploring synergies
2. Organize cross-disciplinary activities (e.g. joint summer school on Social Computing)
3. Organize Researchers’ Festival that will bring together researchers for a series of interlinked activities that will allow pilot-proposal drafting and writing

WP3 – Online Social Networks and their Analysis

WP3 aims to strengthen SCRC’s capacity to secure funding and conduct future research in the area of online social networks and their analysis. Given the expertise of the partners involved, the activities could, for example, include directions related to: (a) technology for extracting and analysing data from online social networks aimed at monitoring users at risk and providing personalized recommendations; and (b) big data technology, Natural Language Processing, and data visualization applied to existing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) data as a case for analysis and experimentation.

WP4 – Entertainment, Games, Virtual Reality and Educational Technologies

WP4 aims to strengthen SCRC of CUT’s capacity to secure funding and conduct future research in the areas of Entertainment, Games, Virtual Reality and Educational Technologies. Given the expertise of the partners involved, the activities could, for example, include directions related to: (a) Computer Graphics, (b) Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds (subfields of ICT within the Smart Specialization Strategy of Cyprus) and their use in scientific fields such as Health, Tourism and cultural heritage as priorities of the Smart Specialization Strategy of Cyprus. These directions will be defined and expanded in T4.1. Besides transferring scientific knowledge, another aim of WP4 is to build a strong network and link SCRC of CUT with possible other advanced partners through MIRALab’s established links with other research bodies.

WP5 – Social Computing for Social Exclusion/Inclusion

Through a series of network activities, WP 5 will aim at strengthening links within the NOTRE consortium in issues related to Social Computing for social exclusion/inclusion. This WP will be led by FORTH-ICS. The Human – Computer Interaction (HCI) Laboratory of FORTH-ICS, with its Centre for Universal Access and Assistive Technologies, is an international leader in the area of Social Computing for social exclusion/inclusion. All activities will be guided by the Smart Specialization Strategy of Cyprus.

WP6 – Social Computing and Social Change

WP6 aims to strengthen SCRC of CUT’s capacity to secure funding and conduct future research in the area of Social Computing and social change. Given the expertise of the partners involved, the activities could, for example, include directions of social change that are of interest to NOTRE such as cultural differences, gender and equality, equal access to health and other governmental services, sensitivity to environmental issues, and other sensitive social issues.

WP7 – Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication

WP7 aims at showcasing the results of NOTRE, the capabilities of the partners and the potential of the SCRC of CUT to the academic community (by leveraging appropriate academic channels), the local community and the communities of the four internationally-leading partners (through traditional media and promotional activities). To that purpose, 5 public events will be organized, one in each of the countries participating in the proposal (Germany, Spain, Greece, Switzerland and Cyprus).
